How to make a voiceover say your brand name correctly
Give Vizard Agent two spellings of your brand name: one written as it sounds, for the voice, and the real one for anything on screen. It records the phonetic version, then repairs the transcript so the captions and the end card still show the name spelt correctly.
What is the short version?
A generated voice reads spelling, not intent. A hyphen, a silent letter or a foreign loan word and it says something that is not your company's name — which is the one word in the whole advertisement that has to be right.
- Go to Vizard Agent and write your brand name as it sounds.
- Write the real spelling separately, for anything appearing on screen.
- Name the other risky words: loan phrases, the URL, product names.
What do you need before you start?
Both spellings and a list of what else the voice tends to get wrong. Vizard Agent will read the phonetic version aloud and keep the correct one for the screen, but it can only do that for the words you flag as different.
- The phonetic spelling. How it should sound.
- The real spelling. For captions and cards.
- Loan words. Which language they should follow.
- The URL. Including the suffix, read in full.
- Any banned phrases. In voice and visuals alike.
What do you type into Vizard Agent?
Give both spellings explicitly and label which one is which. Vizard Agent will otherwise assume the written form is also the form you want heard, and that is exactly the assumption that ends with a paid advertisement in which a voice says your company's name wrong.
Prompt
Variants worth knowing:
- Two spellings, labelled. Sound versus screen.
- Say which language a loan word follows. It cannot guess.
- Ask for the URL in full. They get clipped otherwise.
What does Vizard Agent actually do?
Here is the order Vizard Agent worked in on a real thirty-second product advertisement where the brand name kept coming out wrong. Step thirty-eight is the one that matters here: after recording, it repairs the brand name inside the transcript before generating the captions.
- Fetches the site's brand kit, screenshots and structure.
- Reads the homepage capture and the brand image, then finds the product pages.
- Captures the demo, features and pricing pages and the logo.
- Records a full-page scroll and extracts frames from it.
- Reviews the contact sheets and crops the product interface cleanly.
- Prepares the clean interface assets and checks the voice and graphics tools.
- Generates the voiceover, the music and the animated cards in parallel.
- Regenerates the closing card and a longer voice take, then extracts previews.
- Reviews the hook card, the animated dashboard and the end card.
- Transcribes the recorded voiceover to get its word timings.
- Repairs the brand name in the transcript and generates the captions from the corrected text.
- Assembles and renders the full advertisement.
- Mixes the audio, burns in the captions and exports the final file.
Step eleven catches a failure most people never think of. The transcription hears the phonetic pronunciation and writes down something that is not your brand, so the captions would show a misspelt company name unless the transcript is corrected first.
What does the result look like?
The advertisement this page is written from was a thirty-second product film built from the company's own website — screenshots, a scroll recording, cropped interface panels and animated cards — with a young, energetic voice reading the script.
The brand name is audibly right, the loan phrase in the middle is pronounced in the language it came from, the URL runs all the way to its suffix without being clipped, and the phrase the client asked to remove is absent from the voice, the captions and every card.
When does this not work well?
Controlling pronunciation comes down to spelling tricks, and some names simply resist them however they are written out. Vizard Agent will tell you when a take does not sound right rather than shipping a version you have to catch for yourself on the final review.
- Names with no obvious phonetic form. Some need several tries.
- Very short names. Little context for the voice to work with.
- Regional variation. Say which accent you mean.
- Initialisms. State whether they are read or spelt out.
- Silent letters. Write them out as sounds instead.
How do you fix a result that came back wrong?
Say what you actually heard and what it should have been. Vizard Agent re-records only the affected lines and re-times the captions around them rather than regenerating the entire voice track, so a pronunciation fix costs one line instead of restarting the job.
- "The t is still silent." Re-spelt phonetically and re-recorded.
- "The URL gets cut off." Re-recorded with the full ending.
- "That claim is still in the subtitles." Removed from voice and visuals.
How does Vizard Agent compare to doing it yourself?
By hand this means generating a take, listening, editing the script, generating again, and eventually pasting phonetic gibberish into the box until it sounds right — and then finding your captions show the gibberish. Vizard Agent separates the two spellings from the start.
| By hand | Vizard Agent | |
|---|---|---|
| Pronunciation | Trial and error | Phonetic spelling supplied once |
| Captions | Inherit the phonetic text | Transcript repaired first |
| Loan words | Whatever the voice assumes | Language stated per word |
| A banned phrase | Removed from the script only | Removed from voice and visuals |
Common questions
How do I write the phonetic spelling? As you would text it to a friend. Vizard Agent reads the spelling, so write what you want to hear.
Will the wrong spelling appear on screen? Not if you give both. Vizard Agent uses the real spelling for captions and cards.
What about the transcript? Repaired before captioning. Vizard Agent corrects the brand name in it so the subtitles are right.
Can it handle foreign loan words? Yes, if you say which language. Vizard Agent applies the pronunciation you name rather than the local reading.
Why do URLs get clipped? Voices trail off at the end of a line. Vizard Agent re-records until the suffix is fully audible.
Can I choose the voice profile? Yes. Vizard Agent takes an age range, an energy level and constraints like no reverb.
What if a claim has to come out? Say so once. Vizard Agent removes it from the voice, the captions and every graphic.
Can it spell out an initialism? Yes, either way. Vizard Agent reads it as a word or letter by letter, whichever you specify.
Does it work in any language? Yes. Vizard Agent applies the same two-spelling approach whatever the script's language.
Can I hear it before the render? Yes. Vizard Agent generates the voice first so you can approve the pronunciation.
Why does this matter so much? Because the brand name is the one word the advertisement exists to plant, and a voice saying it wrong actively damages the recall you paid for. Vizard Agent treats it as a hard requirement rather than a nice-to-have.
Can I reuse the phonetic spelling later? Yes. Vizard Agent takes the same spelling for every future video, so the name sounds identical across the campaign.
What if my name has an accent or a diacritic? Write both forms. Vizard Agent renders the accented spelling on screen and reads the phonetic one aloud.
