How to restore lines a noise gate cut out using the camera's own audio

Tell Vizard Agent where a speaker's microphone goes almost silent and send the camera files with their own sound. If a noise gate on the recorder cut those lines, there is nothing on the mic track to lift. It finds where the camera heard speech the mic missed and blends cleaned camera audio in at exactly those moments.

What do you type into Vizard Agent?

Say what you hear and ask for the cause, not just a louder voice. Turning the track up does nothing when the recorder wrote silence, and asking Vizard Agent to look at the original channels is what leads it to the gate instead of to the edit.

In some places the host's microphone is almost muted. It might be a problem in the source or wrong ducking. Check the original audio channels, find what is lowering it, and fix it so the voice is clear and balanced.

What does Vizard Agent actually do?

It treats the camera's scratch audio as a second microphone. Every camera records sound for sync, and that sound still has the words the gate threw away, just with more room in it. In the session behind this article it:

When does this not work well?

When the camera was far from the speaker or pointed away. Its sound will be roomy and thin, and the patched lines will sound different from the rest, so they are better kept short. If the camera was set to record no audio, there is no second source and the lines are gone.

Common questions

Why does turning the mic up not help? The gate recorded silence. Vizard Agent patches from another source.

Will the patched lines sound different? A little. Vizard Agent filters the camera audio to match.

Does it change the picture? No. Vizard Agent rebuilds only the sound.
