How to change the on-screen text in your own recut of a video
Send Vizard Agent your recut and the text changes. It matches every frame of your version back to the original render to work out what you changed, including any speed-up. Then it rebuilds clean, text-free pictures from the original frames and lays the new titles over them only where the old ones were.
What do you type into Vizard Agent?
Upload the version you actually want to keep and say it is your edit. List each text change with where it appears. Vizard Agent then works on your cut, not the earlier one, so your voiceover, your logo and your timing all survive.
Use this edited clip. Two changes: replace the lab-scene caption with "Clinical trials = proof that a treatment works", and on the last frame add "Ask a professional, not your neighbour", then "Subscribe for proven facts".
What does Vizard Agent actually do?
It can't simply cover the old titles, because your cut no longer lines up with any file it has. Your timing, your speed and your additions all have to be worked out from the picture itself. In the session behind this article it:
- Shrank the user's cut and the original render to tiny greyscale frames and matched every frame of one to the closest frame of the other, ignoring the title band and the user's logo corner.
- Found the matches drifting by about five frames every second, so the user's version ran about 1.15 times faster than the original.
- Built title-free pictures from the original shots, re-timed frame by frame to the user's cut, and laid them only over the old title windows with a soft edge.
- Held the last frame longer after asking, and extended the music with a matching passage of the original track, found by correlation and sped up by the same 1.15.
- Caught old titles showing through because overlays keyed to frame numbers had drifted, re-keyed them to timestamps, and confirmed the voiceover and logo were intact.
When does this not work well?
When the recut adds footage that already carries text, or heavy filters that change every pixel. Clean pictures can only come from frames that exist somewhere without the old titles, so in those stretches the text has to be painted out instead, which is less exact.
Common questions
Do I need to send my project file? No. Vizard Agent works out your edit from the video itself.
What if I sped the video up? Vizard Agent measures the speed change and matches it.
Will my voiceover stay? Yes. Vizard Agent changes only the text areas.
