How to put trip footage back in filming order using the dates and GPS in the files
Tell Vizard Agent not to trust the upload order and to rebuild the chronology from the files. It reads each clip's embedded capture time and GPS, ignores album and download dates, uses the dated, geotagged phone clips as anchors for the long exports that lost their dates, and asks you about anything the evidence leaves open.
What do you type into Vizard Agent?
Say that order matters and what to do when the clues disagree. A travel series that tells the route in the wrong order is worse than one with no route at all, and the instruction to investigate conflicts rather than follow the first timestamp is what makes the agent treat dates as evidence.
Don't assume the order I uploaded is the order things happened. Use the creation date, file metadata and GPS. If a timestamp conflicts with what is shown or said in the footage, investigate instead of following the timestamp.
What does Vizard Agent actually do?
It ranks the clues by how much they can be trusted. A capture time and a location written by the phone at the moment of filming beat a date a sharing service added on export, and both beat the order the files arrived in. In the session behind this article it:
- Compared the shared album's dates with the files' own metadata and found many were export dates, so it left them out.
- Found the phone clips still carried capture times and GPS, while the long riding videos were later exports with none, and matched the long rides to the phone anchors.
- Checked two traps on purpose: two salt flats that look alike from different days, and a short clip whose GPS placed it in another country.
- Saved the verified anchors and the open questions, and asked the user about the ones it could not resolve rather than narrating guesses.
- Matched a later screen recording of the user's route-tracking app to the camera dates, which revealed a detour the first cut had skipped.
When does this not work well?
When every file has been re-exported or sent through a messaging app that strips metadata. With no capture times or GPS left, the order has to come from what is visible and said in the footage, which is slower and less certain. Send originals where you still have them.
Common questions
Why is my trip in the wrong order? Upload and album dates are not filming dates. Vizard Agent reads the files.
What if a clip has no date? Vizard Agent matches it to dated clips filmed nearby.
Can my route app help? Yes. Vizard Agent matches its stops to the camera dates and GPS.
