How to turn a drawing into an animation

Upload your illustration to Vizard Agent and say which parts should move. Vizard Agent works out where each element sits in the picture, masks it, rebuilds the background behind it, and animates only what you named. The drawing itself is preserved rather than redrawn, so the result still looks like your hand made it.

What is the short version?

Most tools that animate an image regenerate it, which means your drawing comes back as something adjacent to your drawing. What you usually want is the opposite: this exact picture, with one part of it moving. That is a different job, and it is worth asking for in those words.

What do you need before you start?

The original file and a clear sentence about motion. Vizard Agent will read the picture and identify what is in it, but it has no way of knowing which of the things you drew are supposed to be alive, and guessing wrong there is the difference between a good animation and a busy one.

Name the elements and name the constraint. The constraint clause is what stops Vizard Agent treating your drawing as a reference to be reinterpreted, which is the default behaviour of most image-to-video tooling and almost never what an illustrator wants.

What does Vizard Agent actually do?

Here is the order Vizard Agent worked in on a real hand-drawn animation. The middle of the run explains why the artwork survives intact: those steps are measurement rather than generation, and a mask cut at known coordinates cannot quietly redraw the thing it is cutting around.

  1. Reads the uploaded illustration to understand the style and plan what can move.
  2. Checks the project for earlier work, then probes the previous final video for its resolution, frame rate and length.
  3. Extracts frames from that earlier video and views them tiled, to learn the animation technique that was used before.
  4. Probes the uploaded image for its real dimensions and metadata.
  5. Crops to the target shape and lays a coordinate grid over it, then reads the grid to fix the exact pixel position of each element.
  6. Builds pixel-level masks for the parts that move and inpaints the paper background behind them, so there is something to reveal.
  7. Animates the masked elements over that rebuilt background.

Step 5 is the trick worth knowing about. Vizard Agent draws a grid on your picture and reads coordinates off it, which is how "the arm" becomes a specific region rather than a description.

What does the result look like?

From the run this page is written from, probed on the delivered file: 1280x720, H.264, 24fps, 8.04 seconds, AAC audio. The 24fps was a deliberate match to hand-drawn animation rather than the 30 a phone would give you, and Vizard Agent picked it from the style of the source.

If you need a different shape or length — vertical for a feed, three seconds for a loop — say so and Vizard Agent will deliver that instead. Output specs follow the material and the destination rather than a preset.

Timing was not measured separately for this kind of job. The closest measured work runs a median of 28 to 38 minutes end to end, with the middle half spread considerably wider. Across all projects the median cost by tier is Flash 47, Pro 55, Max 242, Ultra 263 credits.

When does this not work well?

Animating a drawing means separating it into parts, and some drawings do not separate cleanly. Vizard Agent can only move an element it can isolate from its surroundings, and it can only reveal a background it can plausibly rebuild — which is why plain paper is the easiest case and a busy scene is the hardest.

How do you fix a result that came back wrong?

Name the element and the problem. Vizard Agent keeps the masks, the rebuilt background and the coordinate map, so a correction adjusts one region rather than re-analysing the whole picture — which is why "the arm moves too far" is a cheap instruction and a re-upload is not.

How does Vizard Agent compare to doing it yourself?

By hand this is rig-and-tween work in After Effects or a 2D animation tool: cut the drawing into layers, paint out what sits behind each one, set up the movement, then render. The painting-out step is the one that eats the afternoon, and it is invisible in the finished result.

Will it redraw my art? Not if you tell it not to. Say "preserve the existing artwork" and Vizard Agent masks and animates rather than regenerating.

Can it animate a photo instead? Yes, though that is a different technique. Say what should move and Vizard Agent will pick the approach that suits a photograph.

Can it loop? Yes. Ask for a seamless loop and Vizard Agent will bring the last frame back to the first.

Does it add sound? Only if you ask. Say what you want underneath — a music bed, a single effect on the movement, or nothing at all — and Vizard Agent builds the audio in the same pass.

What if my drawing has several characters? Name each one and what it does. Vizard Agent masks them separately, so they can move independently or not at all.
