How to turn a customer interview into a testimonial video

Last updated 2026-08-13 · 6 min read

Upload the interview to Vizard Agent and ask for a testimonial in the customer's own words. Vizard Agent reads the whole conversation, finds the moments that carry the story, and cuts them into a tight video with captions — keeping what they actually said. A testimonial that paraphrases the customer is not a testimonial.

What is the short version?

Three moves, and the third is a review you should not skip. An hour of interview usually contains about ninety good seconds, and finding them means listening to the hour. Vizard Agent does that listening pass, but a testimonial is a claim someone else made, so the final check is a factual one, not an aesthetic one.

  1. Go to Vizard Agent and upload the interview.
  2. Ask for a testimonial of a given length, in their own words.
  3. Watch it beside the source and confirm the meaning survived the cut.

The rest of this page is what goes into each of those, and where the approach stops working.

What do you need before you start?

The recording, and permission to use it. That second one is not a formality — a testimonial is a named person endorsing you in public, and no editing tool can grant that. What decides the quality of the result is whether the customer ever said something specific.

What do you type into Vizard Agent?

Vizard Agent ships this as a template, and the last clause is the one that matters most. "Keep their real words" is what separates a testimonial from an advert with a customer's face on it — leave it in.

Prompt

Turn my customer interview (attached) into a [60-second] testimonial — keep their real words.

Three variants worth keeping:

When you want a specific theme

Turn this interview into a 60-second testimonial about onboarding specifically. Only use what she says about the first two weeks. Her words, unchanged.

When you need several cuts

From this interview, give me a 60-second testimonial and three 15-second quotes for social. Same footage, their real words in all four.

When the answer needs the question

Turn this into a 90-second testimonial and keep my question on screen as a caption before each answer, so the answers make sense out of context.

What are the steps inside Vizard Agent?

Three, and the last is the one people skip. Vizard Agent transcribes the interview, finds the passages that stand alone, cuts them on word boundaries, captions them and reframes for where it is going. The part it cannot do is confirm that the shortened version still means what the customer meant.

  1. Upload the interview to the Vizard Agent chat with the prompt above.
  2. Pick the tier that matches the job. For anything going out under a customer's name the product recommends Max; the free Flash tier is built for quick, simple edits.
  3. Watch the cut beside the source. Not for pacing — for meaning. This is the only format on this list where the review is a factual obligation.

What does the result look like?

A tight testimonial in the customer's own words, cut on word boundaries so nothing starts mid-syllable, with captions and framing for the platform you named. Vizard Agent does not paraphrase — every sentence in the result is one they said. Vizard Agent keeps the interview and its transcript in the project, so pulling three short quotes for social later costs a sentence rather than another upload.

It is not instant, and this category was not separately measured. Comparable work — finding moments inside a long recording — runs a median of about 38 minutes end to end, with the middle half between 18 and 61 minutes. Across all projects the median cost by tier is Flash 47, Pro 55, Max 242, Ultra 263 credits.

When does this not work well?

A testimonial is somebody else's claim, published under their name. That makes the failure modes here different in kind from the rest of this list: a bad ad is ineffective, a bad testimonial is a misrepresentation. Seven cases are worth knowing.

The second one deserves repeating: nothing in this process will tell you that a legitimate-looking cut changed what somebody meant. Only reading it against the source will.

How do you fix a result that came back wrong?

Reply in the same Vizard Agent conversation instead of starting over. The interview and its transcript are still there, so you never re-upload and you are not charged again for the transcription — only for what the correction costs.

What you see What to say next
A cut changed her meaning "Include the 'at first it was hard' clause — the quote is misleading without it"
It picked generic praise "Use only the parts where she gives a number or a specific example"
An answer makes no sense alone "Put my question on screen before that answer"
The wrong speaker is captioned "The second voice is the interviewer, not the customer"
Too long for the placement "Cut it to 30 seconds, keep the six-hours line"

How does Vizard Agent compare to editing it yourself?

By hand this is a listening job before it is an edit: play the hour, mark the usable moments, cut them, caption, reframe. The listening pass runs at real time, which is why customer stories pile up unedited more than any other footage a marketing team owns.

Vizard Agent Editing the interview by hand
Finding the usable moments Part of the same request A full listen at real time
Cutting on word boundaries Automatic Manual, or a transcript tool
Captions Written and timed Typed or corrected
Time for a 60-second cut from an hour About 38 min (half fall in 18–61) Most of a day
Judgement about meaning Yours, and it must be exercised Yours

Neither replaces the other. Vizard Agent wins on the mechanical work and on getting the backlog of unedited interviews published; a human editor still wins when the story needs shaping rather than finding.

Common questions

Will it rewrite what my customer said?

Not if you ask for their real words, which is why that clause is in the prompt. Vizard Agent selects and cuts rather than paraphrasing. Compression can still shift emphasis, which is what the review step is for.

Can I get short quotes for social from the same interview?

Yes — ask Vizard Agent for them in the same conversation. The interview and transcript are already in the project, so three fifteen-second quotes cost a sentence rather than another upload and another pass.

What if the audio is poor?

Every cut Vizard Agent makes comes from the transcript, so poor audio degrades the edit and not just the sound. A lapel mic on the customer is the single highest-return thing you can change about how you record these.

Do I still need their permission?

Yes, and for the specific use. Consent for a website case study is not consent for a paid ad. Nothing about the editing changes who is making the claim or where it can run.

Can it add B-roll of the product over their answers?

Ask Vizard Agent for it — "cut to the dashboard while she talks about reporting". Keep it light: the reason a testimonial works is that a person is talking, and covering their face with product shots removes the thing doing the work.
